Spa-francochamps

For endurance fans, this weekend marks one of the biggest events of the entire year.

The CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa returns to the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for another full day and night of GT3 racing, bringing together one of the strongest GT grids anywhere in motorsport. More than just another endurance race, Spa has become the unofficial world championship of GT3 racing—a place where speed alone rarely wins and survival becomes part of the strategy.

Part of both GT World Challenge Europe and the Intercontinental GT Challenge calendars, the event runs from June 23–28 with the main race beginning Saturday at 16:30 local time. The 2026 edition features a massive field expected to exceed 70 GT3 entries across multiple classes and manufacturers.

What Makes Spa Different?

Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most iconic circuits in the world.

Located in Belgium and stretching 7.004 km through the Ardennes forest, Spa combines high speed, dramatic elevation changes, unpredictable weather, and corners that reward commitment more than perfection.

This isn’t a sprint race.

Drivers must manage:

  • Tire life

  • Fuel windows

  • Traffic through slower classes

  • Driver changes

  • Weather shifts

  • Mechanical reliability

Twenty-four hours at Spa means hundreds of laps where one mistake can erase an entire day of work.

A Fan’s Track Guide: Where the Race Gets Decided

Eau Rouge & Raidillon

The most famous section of the circuit.

Cars charge downhill before climbing aggressively uphill at full commitment. In GT3 machinery, this section still demands confidence and precision—especially during nighttime stints.

Kemmel Straight

The primary overtaking opportunity.

Slipstream battles build here after Eau Rouge and often set up decisive moves.

Les Combes

Heavy braking after enormous speed.

Drivers attack here early but become more cautious once the race settles into endurance rhythm.

Pouhon

One of Spa’s defining corners.

Fast, flowing, and unforgiving. Drivers who find consistency here often save tires over long stints.

Blanchimont

Late in the lap, Blanchimont rewards bravery.

In endurance racing, maintaining momentum through this section can pay off across an entire fuel run.

Storylines To Watch

This year’s race brings another stacked GT3 field with major manufacturers and elite endurance teams preparing for one of the hardest victories in motorsport. Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, Aston Martin, McLaren and others arrive with legitimate ambitions of taking the biggest GT prize of the year.

But Spa rarely follows expectations.

Rain can arrive suddenly.

Traffic changes constantly.

Night racing transforms the circuit.

And often the winner isn’t the fastest team—

it’s the team that makes the fewest mistakes.
